What do I need to know before I register for the ATI TEAS exam?

Important things to know before you register for a TEAS Exam

Before you register for the ATI TEAS Exam, contact the school(s) you are applying to. They will provide important deadline dates for applying to the school, as well as information on where you should take your ATI TEAS Exam and more.

Be sure to have the following details before registering for the TEAS.

  • Registering for the TEAS
    • Schools that require the TEAS will provide instructions on where to register for your TEAS exam.  Many schools will want you to test through their campus, while others may want you to take the TEAS through ATI or another testing center.  It is important to check with the school where you plan to apply before registering for a TEAS exam. The options for taking your ATI TEAS Exam include
      • TEAS at Institution—This can be taken either online at home or in person at a school or school testing center and is proctored by the school. Some schools require you to register and pay for the TEAS through their website or ATI's website. Before registering for the TEAS, you will need to check with the school where you plan to apply to understand their admissions requirements.
      • TEAS at ATI is an online exam that can be taken at a remote location such as your home. ATI proctors this exam using Resondus. Registration for this exam is through www.atitesting.com.
      • TEAS at PSI—This exam is taken through a PSI testing center. PSI testing locations across the United States are available for in-person and remote TEAS exams. Registration for this exam is through www.atitesting.com.
  • Government Issued ID Requirements:
    • You will need to have a physical copy of your government-issued ID (e.g., a current and valid U.S. Passport, Driver’s License, or State ID Card) present and available at the time of testing (including remote and in-person testing).  Note:  Foreign passports will not be accepted for ATI TEAS exams.
    • Please note that we cannot accept a digital copy or a photo of your ID, and the name on your ID must match the name you used when you registered for your exam.
    • School-issued Student IDs or Work IDs will not be accepted.
    • Please visit our government-issued ID page for a complete list of approved IDs.

If these conditions are not met, ATI Proctors will stop your exam and trigger our no refund/retest policy, which can be viewed here. Refunds will not be issued; you will be required to register for another exam.
  • Computer/ System Requirements:
  • School Transcript Policy:
    • Some schools will not accept a TEAS transcript from a remote (at home) exam.  Please confirm your school's transcript policy before registering and taking an exam.  Refunds will not be issued, and your exam will be counted as an attempt.
    • Some schools will only accept TEAS transcripts from an exam taken at their school or designated location.  Please confirm your school's transcript policy before registering and taking an exam.  Refunds will not be issued, and your exam will be counted as an attempt.
    • If you take the ATI TEAS Version 4 (IV), your scores will only apply to the institution where you took the exam. ATI TEAS Version 4 (IV) transcripts cannot be sent to other schools.
  • TEAS Rescheduling Policy:
    • The ability to reschedule your TEAS exam varies by where you take your exam.  Again, check with your school to understand TEAS exam policies.  If you register for your exam through ATI, you may reschedule your TEAS Exam for a fee of $15.  Some restrictions apply - please view our rescheduling policy for more information.
  • The cost of the ATI TEAS proctored exam varies by where you take your exam. On average, the ATI TEAS exam costs about $120.  For more information, follow this link.

  • The score you need on the ATI TEAS Exam to be accepted into the program.  Most schools will share this cut score with applicants. Here is an example of a score report.
  • How long it takes to get your TEAS Exam results (immediate or 48-72 business hours).  This could affect your application date.  Be sure you give yourself enough time to submit your transcript.  This depends on where you take your ATI TEAS exam.
  • The last date to submit your ATI TEAS Exam results.
  • The School Second-Attempt Policy: Many schools have a 30-day wait period before you can test again or limit the number of times you can take the TEAS Exam.
  • The total number of ATI TEAS Exam attempts allowed in one year. On average, schools only allow 3 TEAS Exam attempts per year. Each time you take the TEAS exam, it counts as an attempt, even if you decide not to submit your transcript to a school.  This number is reported and updated to each school where you submit your TEAS results.
  • If you need a test accommodation, please understand how and when to submit your accommodation request.  Some schools request over 30 days of submission before your TEAS exam.

ATI has a fairly strict refund/reschedule policy.  Once you have purchased an exam, your purchase is final.  You must provide documentation for your request to obtain a refund or reschedule a TEAS Exam.  For more information, please visit the reschedule policyThis is why it is very important to understand the admissions policies for each school where you will submit your application before registering for a TEAS exam.
