What to bring to an in-person ATI TEAS exam

This checklist is for ATI TEAS® exams taken in person at a school or testing center. Nearly all in-person exams are taken online on a computer the testing site provides; a small number of schools still give a paper-and-pencil version. Your school will tell you which one you have and may add requirements of its own, so read your registration confirmation carefully.

Before test day

• Create your ATI account at atitesting.com if you do not have one, with your first and last name exactly as they appear on your photo ID. You will sign in on the testing computer, so know your username and password. How to create an ATI student account
• Select your school under Profile › Institution so your transcript goes to the right place.
• Accommodations: contact the school or testing center before you register. Each testing institution determines and provides reasonable accommodations under the ADA. TEAS testing accommodations

What to bring

• Government-issued photo ID that is current and includes your photo, such as a driver’s license, state ID, passport, or permanent resident card. The first and last name must match your ATI account. A student ID, credit card photo, or temporary license is not accepted, and you will not be admitted without a valid ID. Approved ID list
• Your ATI username and password (online version). Students who cannot sign in cannot test.
• Two sharpened No. 2 pencils with erasers (paper-and-pencil version only). No other writing instruments are allowed.
• Anything else your school requires, as listed in your registration confirmation.

What is provided

• Computer: the testing site provides it. Do not bring a laptop.
• Calculator: the online exam has a basic calculator built into the exam screen, available in every section. Only for a paper-and-pencil exam does the proctor hand out a calculator. Personal calculators are never allowed.
• Scratch paper: the proctor provides it. Do not use it before the exam or during the break, and return all of it at the end of the session.
• Assessment ID: the proctor gives you the ID and instructions on test day, before the exam starts. You do not need to bring one.

What not to bring

Leave these at home or in your car; they are not permitted in the exam room:

• Electronics: phones, smartwatches, smart glasses, calculators, earbuds, and headphones.
• Bags: purses, backpacks, and computer bags.
• Outerwear and accessories: jackets, coats, hats, and sunglasses. All apparel is subject to inspection. Recognizable religious head coverings are allowed; if you have a question, ask your school or testing center before exam day.
• Food or drink, unless documented as medically necessary.
• Friends or family: only the registered test-taker is allowed in the room.

What to expect on test day

• Arrive 15 to 20 minutes early. Students who arrive after the scheduled start time are not admitted.
• Staff check your ID, admit you, and seat you. Proctors in the room monitor for disruptive behavior; misconduct results in dismissal and an unscored exam.
• The exam is 170 questions in four timed sections (209 minutes total), with a 10-minute break after math. Plan on about four hours at the testing site. Do not access personal items during the break. TEAS sections and timing
• If you need to leave your seat outside the scheduled break, raise your hand. The section clock keeps running and lost time cannot be made up.
• For a technical problem or any other need, raise your hand for the proctor. Report any testing-room complaint to the proctor before you leave.

After the exam: scores and transcripts

• Your score posts to the Results tab in your ATI account when you finish, unless your school has turned off score posting.
• Your registration includes one official transcript, sent automatically to the school or testing center where you tested, within about 2 hours.
• To send your score to other schools, purchase transcript credits in the ATI Store. Some schools do not accept scores from exams taken elsewhere, so check with each school first.
