What are the features of ATI TEAS SmartPrep?

These are the important features of the ATI TEAS SmartPrep tutorial and how to use them.

PRETEST
SmartPrep begins with a pretest to evaluate what you know and what you don't know.  There are four pretests, one associated with each content area module:  Reading, Math, Science, and English and Language Usage.
A student begins a module by completing the pretest. A pretest summary page is presented to the student providing the student’s total score, number of incorrect and correct responses, and the ability to review each question’s rationale. The pretest can only be completed once. It is always available for student review.

LESSONS
There are a total of 65 lessons within SmartPrep. Each lesson is based on a key standard assessed by the ATI TEAS test.

Study Plan Modes — There are two study plan modes available to the student:
●● Personalized Study Plan (PSP): Based on the pretest performance, a personalized study plan is presented to the student. The PSP is developed by assessing the pretest questions answered incorrectly by the student and identifying the lessons from that content module the student should review. The personalized study plan helps students zero in on the lessons they need to spend more time on, spending less time on content they already know.
●● Full Study Plan (FSP): The full study plan provides students the ability to access all lessons
associated with the content area module. Students may choose to complete the FSP if they believe a review of all content is necessary for their ATI TEAS test preparation.
A student has the ability to switch between the personalized or full study plans and may decide to do so when there are lessons that have related concepts.

Lesson Enrichments and Features — Within each lesson, a student will find:
●● Key Concept Videos: Key concepts that are important to the lesson topic are covered in video form. Most lessons have 2 videos provided.
●● Images: Visuals that support the content that the student is learning are embedded within the lesson.
●● Glossary: Embedded within each lesson are key vocabulary words that are also accessible within the content module glossary.
●● Bookmark: A student can bookmark where they last left off or use it to identify important
information.
●● Toolbar: Students have the ability to extend their learning through notes, highlight, weblink, and hyperlink toolbar. The toolbar displays when a student right or left-clicks on text.

End of Lesson Quiz — At the end of each lesson, a five-question quiz is provided. Once completed, the student has the ability to review question rationales or review the section of the lesson that covers the quiz question content. Based on the student’s quiz performance, lesson content is marked with a colored line and DNA helix identifying if all questions related to the content were answered correctly (green), half the questions were answered correctly (orange), or all questions for that content were answered incorrectly (red).
A student can only answer the end of lesson quiz questions once, but will always be able to review the questions and rationales. If a student completes a second personalized study plan after the post-test, they will be presented with five new end-of-lesson quiz questions.

POSTTEST
There are four posttests, one associated with each content area module.
Once a student has completed the lessons and end of lesson quizzes associated with his or her personalized study plan, the content area module post-test becomes available. A post-test summary page is presented to the student providing the student’s total score, number of incorrect and correct questions, and the ability to review each question’s rationale.
Upon completion of the posttest, if any questions were answered incorrectly, the student is presented with a second personalized study plan (PSP 2). The student’s PSP 2 may consist of some of the lessons already completed or new lessons. If a lesson is presented that the student already reviewed, five new end-of-lesson quiz questions will be provided for additional knowledge checks.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Does a student need to complete a content area module pretest before he or she can access
the lessons?

Yes, a student must complete the pretest before access to the module lessons or a personalized study plan can be made available.

Can a student log out of the SmartPrep tool midway through a test or lesson?

Yes, a student can log out midway through working through a test or lesson. Upon logging back in, they will begin where they left off. Time spent will continue being tracked. If the student leaves, without logging out, their session will be timed out after a certain period of inactivity.

What determines a student’s personalized study plan?

A student’s personalized study plan is based on the pretest questions he or she answered incorrectly and identifies the lessons from that content module the student should review. The personalized study plan helps students zero in on the lessons the student needs to spend more time on, spending less time on content they already know. A personalized study plan can also be recommended after a content area module posttest.

What is the purpose of the end of lesson quiz?

At the end of each lesson, a five-question quiz is provided. The end of lesson quiz is meant to help a student check his or her understanding of the concept(s) taught. Once completed, the student has the ability to review question rationales or review the section of the lesson that covers the quiz question content. Based upon the student’s quiz performance, lesson content is marked with a colored line and DNA helix identifying if all questions related to the content were answered correctly (green), half the questions were answered correctly (orange), or all questions for that content were answered incorrectly (red).

How many times can a student take a pretest? Posttest?

The content area module pretest can only be taken once. If the student does not score a perfect score on the post-test, he or she is presented with a second personalized study plan and once the personalized study plan lesson and quizzes are completed, a second post-test attempt is provided. The posttest questions are the same for both the first and second attempts.

How can a student access a posttest?

Once a student has completed the lessons and end of lesson quizzes associated with his or her personalized study plan, the content area module post-test becomes available.
